Attention professors

For the past six years, the PRWeek Student of the Year competition has offered undergraduate students a remarkable opportunity to compete for a paid internship and substantial cash prize, all on the strength of their strategic communications ideas and presentation.

Sponsored by Hill & Knowlton, the competition is part of the annual PRWeek Awards. Each year, five students are selected from the entries and brought to New York to pitch their ideas to a panel of PR leaders. One college student will be awarded $5,000 and a paid internship at Hill & Knowlton. One runner-up may also win a $1,000 prize and a paid internship at Hill & Knowlton.

More info, after the jump.

Our hope is that you will include the assignment in your summer or fall classroom schedule, as work produced under the guidance of academic leaders like you is invariably of a higher standard. This year, students are asked to design a public relations campaign for Youth Venture, and the entry details are as follows:

Youth Venture is a citizen/social sector organization, based in Arlington, Virginia which helps and encourages young people to act on their entrepreneurial drive. Its major focus is to invest in young people (ages 12-20) who want to create, launch and lead their own sustainable community serving ventures.

Students must develop a public relations campaign that achieves the following:
• Increase awareness of the Youth Venture movement and inspire young people to launch their own organizations
• Help Youth Venture reach its goal of launching thousands of Youth Venture teams each year
• Leverage Youth Venture stories and also the vision of a “be a changemaker” world (on www.youthventure.com and www.ashoka.org) to help tell the inspiring story

The deadline for entries is Friday, December 14, 2007.

Students may also download an entry kit at www.prweek.com/us/awards or send an email with “Student of the Year” in the subject line to .
